Wrote 1200 words on Witch Light this afternoon. Had a three-way writing chat with Rinn and another writer. Strength in numbers. I hope the online writing group will become a regular thing.

My motivation to eat well is at a low ebb. I’m working at being good to myself nonetheless.

“The unheroic, self-humiliation and putting ourselves down with negative self-talk, is a form of masochism with a potentially religious aim: to gain forgiveness through a mode of redemption.  This dedication to suffering — to amplifying suffering — produces meaning, compassion, humility, and healing.  But it is an alchemical stage, not a way of life — not suffering for suffering’s sake.  It is a discipline of the soul which contradicts the ego attitude, but those with chronic depression seem stuck in this stage, unable to escape the black mood.” -alchemist Iona Miller, talking about the first stage of the alchemical process.

Lately I have been absorbed in researching alchemy, particularly what Carl Jung had to say about the subject. In the course of my online travels, I discovered this worthwhile blog, written by a Jungian analyst. Here’s an excerpt from the most recent post, which is about the ongoing oil spill:

Is not anyone who has ever owned a car or owned some stocks implicated in the rush for the black gold? I know, the notion of interconnectedness may suddenly not feel so cozy anymore. The subtler reality is that we are all responsible. We are participating in the killing of the earth. We are puncturing an artery in our mother’s body (thank you SVE13), her thick, dark life-blood turning into poison. The alchemists gave oil a unique symbolic role. It is present at the beginning and end of life. Crude oil is an image of the primal chaos which at this time is still spouting uncontrollably forth.

black dogs.

My handyman raises Rottweilers. So he has a lot of funny pictures on his phone of black dogs lying around looking miserable, slices of pizza draped over their big bodies. They’re not allowed to eat the pizza until he says it’s okay.

This weekend at my sister’s wedding reception, I felt like those dogs. The service crept along at an agonizing pace and, when the artfully-arranged food did arrive, the portions were minuscule.

I sat there feeling hungrier by the second, staring at the starfish-shaped sugar cookie placed near my plate as a wedding favor. I convinced my husband to eat my slice of wedding cake just so I wouldn’t have to sit there looking at it. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m at my lowest weight yet.

As for the image, I saw something similar in a vision yesterday. This image also resembles what I saw. I don’t know the meaning yet.
